IMPLEMENTATION OF THE INVENTION PATENTS MODULE OF THE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY INFORMATION SYSTEM (SIRPI) IN NICARAGUA

As of November 18, 2024, the Invention Patent module of the Intellectual Property Information System (siRPI) was implemented in Nicaragua, allowing the online filing and follow-up of applications and procedures for the granting of patents, utility models and industrial designs. The implementation of the siRPI involved moving from a totally physical filing and follow-up system to an online management system, which allows the computerized systematization of applications and grants of invention patents, utility models and industrial designs.

With the implementation of siRPI, users will be able to perform and consult procedures at any place and time, making the follow-up and access to information on applications much more efficient and transparent; likewise, being eminently online, it will minimize the operating costs involved in the filing and follow-up of applications. The siRPI, being an information technology tool, will also allow integration with other national and international databases, thus improving cooperation and the exchange of information globally.
