By means of the Resolution N° 4257 of April 8th, 2019, the National Secretary of Energy made strong recommendations to the National Electricity Transmission Company (ETESA), regarding the preparation and submission of the Bidding Papers for a short-term purchase of energy and power. This decision comes after it was acknowledged that there is a delay in the construction and planning of two electricity generation plants, Telfers (Panama NG Power) and Gas to Power (Sinolam Smarter Energy, formerly Martano).
Hence, it was decided to proceed with the purchase of energy and/or power to safeguard the energy supply in Panama for the period of 2020-2023.This bid will be open to new existing technologies and generation sources, offers will be accepted since next June 5th, and will include net power and energy monthly established requirements. It is foreseen that the supply of energy will start on January 1st, 2020, and it will be for a period of three years.
Therefore, the Secretary of Energy request ETESA to prepare all necessary Bidding Papers and their submission to the National Authority of Public Services (ASEP).
