Panama finally joined most of the countries of the region, when this Thursday, May 25, 2017, by law 27 of 23 May 2017, creates a benefit for male workers whose partners gave birth a child.
The benefit that is known as paternity leave, is paid and is awarded to all workers, this includes both private enterprises and the Government.
The license includes 3 waged days which are counted from the day the baby is born. It applies to men whose spouses or cohabitants are expecting and employee shall inform the employer of the probable delivery date so employer could make relevant internal arrangements for the absence of the worker to enjoy it paid parental leave.
In the event that the company already had any similar benefits, it shall be granted to the worker the one that is more favorable.
