Arias Panama, a Panamanian office of the leading Central American Law Firm Arias, due to a newly approved bill, announced that has opened a data protection and privacy practice, led by Managing Partner Siaska SSS Lorenzo.
The firm announced on Feb. 1st that the incoming Panamanian Data Protection Law will have an important impact in all day to day local activities; thus, the practice will focus on compliance, information security and legal transfer of personal information. Siaska has been a partner at the firm since the opening of the Panamanian branch in 2011.
Founding partner Siaska said that the new practice will complement the firm's current regulatory, competition and antitrust offering. After publication of the bill, 2019 will be the year for local entrepreneurs and entities to focus on adapting to the new rules before they come into force in 2021.
