María Cristina has a Degree in Law and Political Science from Santa Maria La Antigua University, Panama; a Masters degree in International Business Law from San Pablo CEU, Madrid, Spain and a Specialization in International Law from Latina University, Panama.
María Cristina joined Arias in 2016 in the Banking and Finance department, where she currently focuses her practice, assisting national and international companies with excellence, in complex transactions and projects that involve multi-jurisdictional and multidisciplinary teams such as financing projects of high levels of complexity; structuring and execution of mergers and acquisitions across different service and industry sectors, examining corporate and contractual topics; international bond issuance, among others.
She has also provided legal advice to companies related to security market, including Private Investment Funds. She has supported consultations with banking entities and the securities market sector regarding the application of Panamanian legislation.
She has provided pro bono legal advice to the World Bank Group in connection with Panamanian legislation in the project "Doing Business", 2018 and 2019 editions.
